It’s October and that means the hosts are turning their thoughts to … eggnog?! That’s right, now is a good time to start making the Aged Eggnog introduced all the way back in Episode 5: Fruitcake and Eggnog. Andrea and Stefin love the Sun Liquor Aged Eggnog recipe and Andrea has also seen an Aged Eggnog recipe from Alton Brown that is very similar.
Stefin has a knack for catchy writing and the show titles are overwhelming proof of her talent. She went on a real tear in March of 2018 and came up with the following favorites: Episode 68: Hot Buttered Yum!, Episode 67: No-Knead, Indeed and Episode 69: Two for the Dough. Meanwhile, Andrea’s got a soft spot for Episode 14: Biscoff 10, Willpower 0 and Episode 64: Nothing Says I Love You Like a Savory Pork Pie.
Listeners, what’s your favorite show title?
Stefin’s Greatest Hit: Episode 16: Chocolate Chess Pie
The Chocolate Chess Pie from Spicy Southern Kitchen, first introduced in February 2017, has become a staple at Stefin’s annual Thanksgiving table and earned a coveted spot in her handy kitchen file of TNT recipes. One of the first pies in the “desperation” or “pantry” pie categories, both the hosts find this recipe to be super easy and delicious. Andrea finds it extremely hard to resist, as it’s essentially an enormous brownie disguised in pie form. When you make this pie, don’t forget it’s best served after setting up overnight.
Listener Picks for Greatest Hits Volume 2
Listener Lydia submitted the Lemon Drizzle Cake from Deliciously Vintage: 60 Beloved Cakes and Bakes That Stand the Test of Time by Victoria Glass from Episode 45: Citrus Success. Good news: it’s lemon, and it’s a heritage bake, but here’s a twist (get it?): Andrea still gets sinkage in the middle when she makes it. Perhaps making the cake with commercial self-raising flour, vs. homemade, will be the trick that finally solves the challenge. Andrea resolves to keep baking this delicious cake until the mystery is solved.
Listeners Marci and Le Wolf voted for Episode 164: Terrific Tiramisu and the hosts were thrilled to recall the ease and delight of this recipe. Stefin made the chocolate version while Andrea stuck with the traditional version, and they were equally good. Andrea’s thinking about making the Berry Tiramisu version using fancy Italian cherries with a touch of Cherry Bounce cordial from Episode 103!
