Andrea’s discovered her perfect oatmeal cookie, thanks to a rather surprising source, Weight Watchers! Despite their “healthy” description, Andrea found them the perfect cross between crispy and chewy.
Stefin has two #20for20 kitchen clutter-clearing tips. #1: Repurpose plastic delivery containers to corral your baking supplies. She has a “baking kit” for ginger, nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon and allspice; an “extracts kit” for vanilla, almond, and orange-blossom water; and a “leavening kit” for yeast, baking powder, and baking soda. This idea not only repurposes containers that would otherwise wind up in a landfill, it also makes supplies easy to grab, and keeps cabinets tidy.
#2: After years of struggling with where to keep her hot pads, Stefin is a convert to the mighty Command Hook. Don’t take our word for it, but these plastic hooks are strong and won’t damage whatever surface you stick them to. Related query to Listeners: Andrea’s looking for the perfect hot pad. Any recommendations?
Review: Flapper Pie is a “Cozy and Comforting” Heritage Bake
Both hosts downsized this vanilla cream pie with meringue topping from Linda A. at allrecipes.com, but would go full size in the future — finding this simple, delicious and comforting dessert another strong contender in the “pantry pie” category. Andrea used Lotus Biscoff cookies for built-in cinnamon crunch in her crust; Stefin blitzed Rich Tea Biscuits in her food processor and added ground cinnamon. It was a win in both kitchens!
