Episode 164: Terrific Tiramisu

Is National Muffin Day on your baking radar? Thanks to Listener Jesse, it’s on ours! Mark Sunday, March 1 on your calendars, and let us know if you become a “muffinteer” in your neighborhood. But before you whip up a batch or two, heed Stefin’s hard-earned wisdom and fill all your muffin cups before you put your pans in the oven. (Learning and laughs!)

Remember that next week we’ll be discussing our February Preheated Book Club Pick, Risotto with Nettles by Anna Del Conte. Read along, then listen in to our discussion in Episode 165.

Has Andrea found the ultimate in easy desserts? This One-Ingredient (you read that right) Chocolate Mousse from Melissa Clark, may take the prize for simplicity … but how does it taste? If you’ve whipped it up, let us know!

Review: Gemma Stafford’s Easy 10-Minute Tiramisu

Both hosts were full of amore for this easy and delicious, cool and creamy Italian classic. Andrea tackled the traditional version, which chilled for two to four hours and served six, while Stefin, her mind forever changed about tiramisu, tried the chocolate version which chilled for four to six hours and served 10. A huge hit with both hosts’ families, this is a new TNT (“tried ‘n’ true”) on both sides of the Atlantic.

Do be sure to watch your cheese and cream mixture carefully, as it will whip to stiff peaks very quickly. Otherwise, this forgiving make ahead, no-bake would be great for a large gathering, and is sure to please your valentines any time of year.

This Week’s Bake Along: Panna Cotta from Giada De Laurentiis

Both hosts love the creamy, dreamy Italian custard panna cotta and are excited to give Food Network star Giada De Laurentiis’ “unmolded” version a try. Be sure to watch Giada’s video for a few tips that aren’t included in the print recipe. Andrea notes the recipe has more than 130 five-star reviews. Will it be as big a hit with the Preheated hosts and Listeners? Bake along and let us know!

Brick Meets Click: Online Grocery Shopping

The brave new world of online grocery shopping is second nature for London resident Stefin, but how is Andrea adapting in the US? Listen in as the hosts run down the myriad options now available to shoppers, and even discover a new #20for20 for Stefin during their conversation.
