It’s the first week of Simply Savoury month! (And yes, that is the British spelling!) The hosts keep to their “vow and resolution” to bake in season with a seasonal rundown of what’s fresh in markets right now (in both hemispheres) along with some great ideas for what to do with the bounty.
This Week’s Bake Along: Smoked Gouda Dinner Muffins from Chatelaine Magazine
Savoury bake lover Andrea is particularly excited about October’s first bake — a Smoked Gouda Dinner Muffin featuring caramelized onions, smoked Gouda cheese, and grated (!) pear. Stefin’s happy to salute our Canadian listeners (and a favorite magazine) just in time for Canadian Thanksgiving on October 14. Will this muffin be a great addition to your bread basket? Bake along and let us know!
“19 for ’19” Baking Resolutions Update
Finally, as we enter the home stretch of 2019, the hosts share their progress on their “19 for ’19” baking resolutions — and they’ve been busy! Andrea’s still working on her gingerbread, Bûche de Noël and angel food cake, while Stefin’s got to get to her Turkish Delights and marshmallows in the last three months of the year. Together, though, they’ve tackled all but one of their listener-suggested resolutions — an eight-strand challah suggested by Listener Vickie. Stay tuned in Fourth Quarter! (This handy PDF lists all the Preheated “19 for ’19“.) And tune in to the final episode of the year on December 30 to hear the full recap, and some teasers for the “20 for ’20.”
